My dear Isabell… what great times we had…hmm
Finally I sold „her“ in Aukland but it wasn´t that easy. The weeks before that day were such a pain in the ass…
I bought my car in the beginning of February in Queenstown at a price of 1800$(1200€) and sold it 10 months later for 2900$. That sounds really good alright but you have to consider how much money I spend to keep it alive. There we have 400$ for new tyres, 1000$ to replace the campbelt, new breakes and here and there some other costs that I payed 4000$ all in all though. But at the end of the day I thought having a car such a long time for about 1000$, it was a pretty good deal for myself especially after these horror storys I heard from others even after I sold my car already. Having a car in New Zealand is always gambling and in this case I was lucky enough.

It was really hard to get the final WoF(Warranty of fitness) due to broken indicator switch. My car was from 1995 and some years ago Mitsubishi stopped to produce several parts for this type of car like the indicator switch I needed so badly. So my only chance was a second hand part and that is when the fun begun. It was truely a nightmare and I drove in complete hopelessness.
This damn thing…
Together with Luisa we started to find this damn thing. We tried it at several car wreckers and we´ve been on site to check the cars. No luck. We called soo many part vendors and Mitsubishi partners. Still no Luck. I checked it online and wrote even people on Facebook weather they can check some car wreckers in Christchurch for me. Still No. I pictured the worst case which would mean no indicator switch – no WoF, no WoF – no disposal, no disposal no fun.

After I lost all my hope and got even more frustrated every minute we tried one last car wrecker in Aukland(Zebra). My type of car wasn´t there but I checked the indicator swtiches from other Mitsubishi cars and I spotted one and compared the part. It looked very much identical except one little thing so I removed it with a screwdriver which was in my pocket knive (a gift from friends of mine of ricoh, thanks sooo much guys!) and I just gave it a shot. So we went as quickly as possible to my car and installed the second hand part. It fits pretty good so time to check it out.
I was standing there in excitement when Luisa started the test for the indicator switch and lights… everything was working. It was FANFUCKINGTASTIC. I had a new functioning indicator switch. WEEHAA.

Ach Isabell… was hatten wir fuer eine schone Zeit zusammen…hmm
Ich habe sie nun in Aukland verkauft, aber die Wochen davor waren eie absolute Zerreissprobe fuer mich und meine Nerven.
Ich habe den Wagen im Februar in Queenstown einem Brasilianer fuer 1800 $ abgekauft und fuer 2900$ wieder verkauft. Das klingt in erster Linie wie nen richtig guter Reibach, aber ich habe viel reingesteckt, wie 400$ fuer Reifen, 1000$ fuer Zahnriemen, Bremsbelaege und hier und da noch was, also alles in allem knapp 4000$. Aber auch mit knapp 1000$ Verlust ist das fuer 10 Monate echt in Ordnung.
Die letzte WOF(TuV) zu kriegen war allerdings sehr schwierig, da ich einen neuen Blinkerhebel brauchte. Diesen hat Mitsubishi jedoch nicht mehr hergestellt fuer die RVRs von 1995. Also mussten wir nach einem 2nd-Hand-Teil suchen und das war sehr anspruchsvoll. Wir haben etliche Car Recycler abgeklappert, Unmengen von Mitsi-Haendlern angerufen und alles versucht. Es gab keinen Blinker fuer die Karre und das wuerde im schlimmsten Fall bedeutet haben, kein Blinker – kein TuV, kein Tuv kein Verkauf, kein Verkauf kein Spass. Die Hoffnungslosigkeit wuchs so schnell in mir wie Unkraut.
Als ich im Grunde schon abgewunken haben, waren wir bei einem letzten Car Recycler in Aukland. Mein Auto gabs da zwar wieder nicht, aber es gab einen aehnlichen Mitsubishi. Also Verkleidung vom Blinker abgeschaubt und die Anschluesse und das Teil ansich verglichen.
Es sah sehr gleich aus, bis auf eine Kleningkeit. Naja, Anyway dachte ich mir, hab die 25 Dollar fuer das Teil bezahlt und soo laut gejubbelt, als ich den Blinker bei mir dran hatte und alles funzte… AWESOME MAN !
Die Tage und Wochen davor konnte ich an nichts anderes denken, aber es hat funktioniert, weehaa.
